Doug
As of 2023 I've been in the trade for 41 years!
I served my apprenticeship in Kilmarnock, working there, Glasgow, Los Angeles, Cambridge UK, Sydney, Surrey UK, London, Portsmouth and finally for the past 15 years here in Whiteley..... what a journey! I truly love what I do, and feel I'm pretty damn good at it (but one never blows one's own trumpet!).
I Iearned the two most valuable lessons on my first week of training; " you're only as good as your last haircut" and " if it was your hair would you be happy with that haircut"...and that's my philosophy.
Today we live in a 'Peaky Blinders' warp, which has encouraged renewed interest and vibrancy in the barbering trade.Trendy barbershops springing up here there and everywhere and the staff dressing the part, god help us when full scissor cutting comes back into fashion!! There is not a job on this planet that it only takes 9 weeks training! Bitter? no I'm just passionate about my trade and the lifetime training it's taken me to be confident in my work. You get your haircut by me, it is precise, I hate the faff and fannying around, trying to make you look like David Beckham.
What I want is for your hair to look the same when you get out of the shower tomorrow morning as it does when I boot you out of my chair today!
Amazing.....
